  Paul in his bird room

1,
What attracted you to Bird keeping
It all started when I was 13 years old, I worked in a pet shop that had many different
varieties such as soft bills, foreign finch, parrots and budgerigars.

2, How long have you kept Birds
Since I was 13 which is 43 years ago.

3, Do you specialise in any Birds
No I like many different types.

4, Any tips for members both new and old
Try to feed your bird’s wild fruit, vegetables and grasses but be careful that they
are not spayed with chemicals.

5, What food  and supplements do you give your birds
Mainly they have 50/50 budgie, foreign finch and mixed millet
I also give crushed egg shell and mineral mix
Carrots and egg food.

6, When and how many pairs do you breed a year
I breed 52 weeks of the year as I use colony breeding so this varies from year to year depending on the
birds, once I had up to 50 pairs breeding.

7, What has been your best win to date
This must be when I was at a show in Cornwall and won
Best common
Best rare
Best softbill
Best foreign
What a good day!

8, Do you have a favourite show of the year and why
Not really different shows are good for different reasons; it mainly depends on how friendly people are.

9, Finally about you hobbies or other interests
Bonsai this I have also been doing for about 40 years.

Thanks Paul for the morning at your bird room.
